Camp Life

Camp To Belong Maine is held at beautiful Camp Wigwam on Bear Lake in Waterford, Maine.  Camp Wigwam has been in existence since 1910 and has been owned and operated by the Strauss family since the 1960s.

Bob Strauss and his staff welcomed CTBM into their family by sharing with us Camp Wigwam traditions as well as by supporting the CTB mission and purpose whole heartedly.

CTBM and Camp Wigwam offer many activities throughout the beautiful site which include:

Waterfront activities (Swimming, Water Skiing/Tubing, Kayaking,                    Canoeing)
Hiking
Challenge Activities such as wall-climbing, where campers motivate and       encourage one another to tackle their fears and hesitations.
Tennis & basketball courts
Bocce and Badminton courts
Arts & Crafts lodge
Woodworking shop

The main lodge boasts a large fireplace, board games, foosball, and ping pong for those rainy days.  The dining hall is located adjacent to the main lodge.

The kitchen staff makes delicious meals with a wide variety of choices to please and satisfy every camper and counselor.

Breakfast offers hot and cold cereals, fruits, PB & J, and hot entrees such as pancakes, eggs, French toast, etc.
Lunch and Dinner offer a salad bar, PB & J. hot and/or cold entrees such as fish, meat, potatoes, vegetables, sandwiches, Pizza, etc.
Desserts are also mouthwatering.

Cabins are situated in a lovely grove of trees near a field where campers can enjoy a roll in the grass, a ball game, or even a Frisbee contest.

Boys and girls cabins are separated.  Brothers share cabins together and sisters share cabins together.  For those sibling groups of just one brother and one sister, single brothers are matched with others brothers of similar age.  Single sisters are matched with other sisters of similar age.

Cabin assignments are planned purposefully keeping in mind ages, numbers of brothers and sisters, interests, etc. so that campers can share time with their siblings and also meet others who may share similar experiences and interests.

Cabin sizes vary but on average the cabins house 2-4 campers and 1-3 counselors.

Each cabin has electricity, bathroom facilities and sinks with running water.  A single shower house with multiple stalls requires designated shower times for boys and girls.

CAMPER QUOTE ~

“I want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart for providing the opportunity for me and my brother Bryce to be able to spend valuable time together.  For providing  the opportunity for our sibling bond to seal , never to be broken again...You saved one more sibling bond.”
